Dodge Intrepid DTC 43
Q. Hi. Vince, I've Got a 1997 Dodge Intrepid that has a rough idle in drive not moving, with idle at 1,500. Also idles high about 2,200 in park, but once in drive idle drops to 1,500 and shakes. Car runs great on Highway. Can not seem to find the problem. Got code 43 "Peak primary coil current not achieved with max dwell time" or 43 "Cylinder misfire" or 43 "Problem in power module to logic module interface."
So I've changed the coil, wires, plugs, air temperature sensor, MAP and crankshaft position sensor. Checked for vacuum leaks, found none. Please help.
Vincent
A. Here is where the P code would be very helpful. Any one of these conditions will cause a DTC 43 and turn on the MIL. The P code would specifically point to which one is causing the problem.
Usually this code is caused by a bad set of ignition wires. In this case in cylinders 1, 3 or 5. If, after replacing the wires, the codes are still present, then you probably have a problem with the coil pack.
