Acura Integra Door Lock Wires
Q. Hi Vince, I have a 1992 Acura Integra LS hatchback. No power door locks, but I do have power windows. I had installed an actuator in each door so I could have keyless entry. This was about a year ago. The other day I was realigning the actuator, and I see three wires running across the door, into a connector.
Then the wires change to a different color, and then they appear to run into (what I think is) the car's factory actuator. Could I have power door lock wiring without power door locks? How could I test this 3-pin connector? The wires running across the door are blue (with stripes that I can't remember right now), and then after the connector they turn to black, red, and white.
Here's a picture of the door:
THANKS!!!
A. The wiring for the power door locks is there even though the car does not have power door locks installed. In theory, if you bought power door lock switches and the actuators, all you have to do is install them and plug them in.
Most Japanese car makers make their wiring harnesses based on the assumption that any of the available accessories will be installed. Some accessories are installed at the port where they enter the US and others are installed at the dealer. That was one of the things I loved about working on Japanese cars.
According to my wiring diagram, those are the wires for the power door locks.
