Grand Voyager Gauges
Q. Dear Mr. Ciulla, I have a 1992 Plymouth Grand Voyager. Recently while driving the "Check Gauges" light came on and speedometer, temperature and fuel gauges all went dead. Even the lights on dashboard all went out. I tried all the fuses with a fuse tester and they seemed fine.
I'm not sure where to go from here. Could it be a relay? And if so how do I go about checking it?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
BradA. There was a TSB number 08-14-92 issued Aug. 10, 1992 on this problem. From the bulletin:
SUBJECT:
Instrument Cluster Gauges/Warning Lamps Inoperative/Intermittent Operation Of Body Controller FunctionsMODELS:
1992 Caravan/Grand Caravan/Caravan CV Voyager/Grand Voyager/Town & CountrySYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Instrument cluster gauges will not operate. In addition, the chime, intermittent wipers, power door locks, illuminated entry, instrument panel illumination, and warning lamps may not function correctly. The overhead console will only display compass and temperature correctly. These symptoms may be caused by three different conditions. These conditions are; (1) mechanical cluster warning lamp lock-up, (2) body controller lock-up caused by the relays, or (3) body controller lock-up due to electrostatic discharge (a shock from static electricity).
Since the diagnosis and repair procedure are rather involved, your best bet would be to take it to a Chrysler Dealer to have it correctly diagnosed and repaired.
