Rear Axle Operation Q. Hi, My name is Tim. I have a friend that is going to an automobile repair school and is having trouble understanding how a differential works. All the diagrams and explanations are not very good, at least the ones I've seen. Is there any place on the Internet that might have "video" and something similar that might help us understand just how they work? Thanks for your help, Tim

A. I don't know of any sites that have a video of a differential in action, but Automotive 101 has a very good graphic of on with a detailed explanation of how it works.
