Mazda Millennia Knock Sensor

Q. Hi Vince, Maybe you could help me. I have a 1999 Mazda Millennia 2.5 liter 6 cylinder. A while the "engine check light" started coming on. It would go off whenever I filled the vehicle with fuel. Then it would start lighting up intermittently whether I filled up or not. I went to the Auto Zone store where they perform a free "Engine Check".

The result that came back from downloading the system information was a bad "Knock Sensor".

I purchased a new sensor and wanted to install it myself. However, the employees at the store could not tell me where the sensor is located and I have not found it either. Maybe you could tell me where the sensor is located. I am assuming it is somewhere on the engine block.

Thanks in advance,
Mat

A. From the symptom you described, I would have expected to get an EVAP system code.

The Knock Sensor is located on the top center of the engine block, under the intake manifold.
