Good Gaskets
Q. I want to replace the pan gasket (as well as lifter cover, and valve cover) on my 1984 F-150 with a 300 CID in-line 6. Having raced cars for 10 years in the 80s, I am aware of the difference between performance gaskets and what is sold for OEM these days.
I would like to find a pan gasket that is rubber or cork over steel. This design tends to stay in place better during the torquing of pan bolts. The rubber only ones are the hardest to keep in place. With this in mind what is the best quality gasket that I can find for this application and where can I obtain them?
Thanks,
JohnA. I have always used Felpro gaskets. They are a good quality gasket and I have had very little trouble with them. You can get them at just about any auto parts store.
If it's high performance gaskets that you are looking for, then your best bet in finding them would be a speed shop or high performance shop. You might want to try AMS Racing and see what they have.
