Questions and Answers

Nissan Quest Distributor Noise?

Q. Okay, here's the problem. When cold, the Quest runs fine. But on drive 15 minutes or longer it gradually begins to stutter until it begins to buck. Spark plugs, both O2 sensors, cap and rotor, fuel filter have all been replaced. Also, is the distributor supposed to make a slight rattling sound when the engine is reved?

Auto transmission

Fuel injected

Thanks for any info you can give.

A. No, the distributor is not supposed to make any noise at all. I would pop the distributor cap off and I'll bet you find something broken inside.

Also, feel the shaft and see if there is any side to side play. There shouldn't be any. If there is, the distributor is worn out.
