Dodge Intrepid Check Engine Q. I have a 1995 Dodge Intrepid ES and my engine light is on. I am not financially able to take it to a mechanic at this time. Can you give some things to have my husband check out? The light comes on every time I drive about 2-3 miles. But there was one time I drove about 10 miles to work and it didn't come on.

This has been going on for about a week and a half. My oil has been cleaned. I had a loose vacuum hose but it is fixed. Once and a while the car seems to hesitate. Please help me.

A. There are many things that would cause the Check Engine Light (MIL) to come on. The best thing to do is to pull the codes from the computer and see what they indicate. The codes will remain in memory even when the MIL is off.
