Renault Megane Shifts With A Bang Q. Hello Mr. Ciulla, I own a 1999 Renault Megane 2000 cc engine and automatic transmission with 45,000 miles on it. ABS brakes, P/S, A/C and fuel injection. When the car gets hot shifting from N to D will take a few seconds before the transmission shifts. And then when it does shift, it does it with a jerk.

Also the same thing happens when shifting down from second to first. Oil and filter was replaced no help. Note: as the temperature goes up it gets worse.

A. I'm assuming you mean the transmission oil and filter and not the engine oil and filter. If that assumption is not correct, then I would recommend a transmission oil and filter change before anything else.

If the assumption is correct, then it is possible the first gear band or band apply servo needs to be adjusted. I would take it to the Renault Dealer or a good transmission shop and have it checked and adjusted.
