Intentional Back Firing

Q. Hello, I want to ask about back fire for exhaust system. I have Subaru Impreza GT turbo 1999. So I want to make my car blow-out fire from cat back exhaust. I want to know what parts should I take and I want to know prices for those parts and if you have pictures for those parts. So if you please reply me as soon as you can.

Thanks,
Faisal al

A. This was a very popular thing to do in the 60's and early 70's before catalytic converters were required on cars. It involved igniting the unburnt fuel coming out the tail pipe and having a big flame come out of the tail pipe.

With modern cars it really doesn't work because the fuel management systems don't allow unburnt fuel to leave the tail pipe. Between the EFI system just allowing enough fuel to permit efficient engine operation and the catalytic converter oxidizing the little unburnt fuel that does get by, there is nothing left to ignite.

It is also illegal in many states and I will not violate the law by giving you instructions on how to do it.
