Safari Blower Motor

Q. Help!!!! We have a 1986 GMC Safari van, V-6, factory air. The blower fan for the AC/heater quit working on the high speed. It still works on the other speeds. We have replaced the fan motor, the fan control; still no luck on the high speed. The dealer then insisted that it was the AC blower control resistor. We replaced that and it still doesn't work on the high speed.

Is there anything else that would control the high speed. Repair manuals don't show anything that controls the fan speed.

Thanks!
Dave

A. The blower motor resistor has nothing to do with the high speed operation of the blower motor. High speed is a direct feed to the blower motor.

There is a High Speed Blower Motor relay that is probably bad. The blower motor relay is located in engine compartment, just above passenger side fender well. I would try replacing it first. If it doesn't solve the problem, then the problem is in the wiring.
