Acura Integra Taking On Water
Q. Hi Mr. Ciulla, I have a small problem I was hoping you could have some information on. When there's snow on my windshield (more specifically, where the wipers sit), and I run the car and turn on the defroster, the passenger side leaks. (From above the passenger's feet). I haven't had a chance to see this in the rain, because it's just been snowing lately.
But I'm assuming it would do the same thing. The leak slows or stops if I turn off the defroster. I thought I had read there might be a TSB on this problem, but can't find it. Do you know the TSB that might show what I need to replace? Maybe some kind of plastic rings on the windshield?

Thanks!
A. There is a TSB on Acura windshield moldings, but it pertains to 1998 an up models. I see nothing in my database about water leaks in the 1993 Acura Integra.
It is possible that snow got under the cowl and is channeling water where it would not normally go. Personally, I would wait until warmer weather and see if this is the case. If it is what you can do is remove the wipers and cowling and fit a fine wire mesh screen over the air intake area. This will help keep the snow away from the air intake.
If the water is coming from around the windshield, I would recommend letting a glass shop do the resealing.
