Sedan DeVille A/C Problem Q. Hello Vincent, I have a 1993 Cadillac Sedan DeVille with about 120,000 miles on it equipped with standard equipment to include auto load leveling etc. My problem is that the air conditioner will run for a few minutes and go to ECON mode. Reset the computer and it will run again for 15 - 30 minutes before doing the same thing.

Yes it has freon etc and orifice tube. Replaced the low pressure switch already with no results. Replaced the orifice tube which was black and pulled the vacuum and recharged the system which made it run as described above.

This vehicle is equipped with an extensive on-board diagnostic system which is capable of detecting and compensating for faults, alerting the operator of a fault and recording pertinent data during the failure. It is also capable of displaying information about current vehicle performance when a fault occurred.

Even with the self-diagnostics it is not an easy system to work with. The testing procedure is a whole chapter in the service manual. This is one I would recommend the Cadillac Dealer look at.
