Questions and Answers
They found the contaminated fuel and already had another vehicle in their shop with the same problem. I have had the entire fuel system cleaned, new fuel filter, and all new injectors had to be put in. They are not sure what was in the contamination but part of what came out of my car was the color of Coca-cola and had a lot of sediment & particles floating in it. (I still have a sample of it) One of their theories is that the computer had a glitch and there may have been massive amounts of their additives put in when the trucks picked up the gasoline. My question is that my car still is not running back to its original condition and seems to still miss and run rough when it is idling. (But it is much better than it was initially) I have had it in the shop three times now and am at a loss of what to do or where to take it next. Can you provide any suggestions? I have 40,800 miles on the car and it ran perfectly before this happened. It is an automatic, fuel injection, V-6 engine, A-C, cruise etc. Please let me know if you need any further information to answer my question.
Eagle Vision Running On Coca-Cola??
Q. Recently I got a full tank of Shell gasoline in my 1995 Eagle Vision ESI (Chrysler) that was contaminated. It started idling rough and the next day would not start. I took it to the dealership where I bought it and normally have my work done.
Thank you.
A. Hmmm... I don't know about the additives theory, but I guess it is possible. I know the depot my gas comes from just pumps it into the tankers and does no adding of anything.
Anyway, I think the problem would most likely be the O2 sensor. Burning the contaminated fuel has probably coated the O2 sensor with some garbage and it can't do it's job. It may read on a scan tool that it's operating properly, but it can't sniff the exhaust.
By the way, if you see a truck making a fuel delivery to the station you're pulling into to get gas, go to another station. When the fuel is dumped into the tanks it causes all the garbage and water on the bottom of the storage tank to get mixed up. It takes a while for the stuff to settle back to the bottom and out of harms way.
