Pontiac Grand Am Brake Lights Stay On Q. Hi Vince, My name is Bob and I have a 1991 Pontiac Grand Am LE with the L4 2.3 liter DOHC engine. My brake lights stay on even with the car off. I haven't tried bleeding them yet or replacing either. I was wondering you could possibly help me out with why they would be doing this and ways to fix it. Thanks a lot...

A. First make sure that the 4 way flasher switch is off. They may light the lights if the flasher is stuck closed. Also there is a switch above the brake pedal that controls the stop lamps. It may be bad or out of adjustment.
