Mirage Fuel Pump Q. I have a 1990 Mitsubishi Mirage and I'm thinking I need to replace the fuel pump and I was wondering if I need to drop the tank to remove the fuel pump? The car stalls out and dies as though it weren't getting enough gas, I've replaced fuel filter as well as the air filter, now I'm thinking the pump may be bad.

A. Yes, the fuel tank must be dropped to replace the fuel pump on that car. I would suggest doing a fuel pressure test to determine if, indeed, the fuel pump needs to be replaced.
