Grand Am Won't Start

Q. I have a 1991 Grand Am 2.5 FWD manual trans. It was running till today. I got in and it wouldn't start. I turn the key and push the clutch and nothing happens. Took screwdriver to test solenoid, starter does engage but doesn't engage the motor to turn over. What do you think? Is it the starter or something else?

Thank you

A. If you press the clutch down and nothing happens, there is a problem with the clutch interlock switch or relay. If you press the clutch down and the starter just spins without engaging the engine, you have a bad starter.

If you get nothing when you step on the clutch and the starter spins when you jump the solonoid without engaging, you have a bad clutch interlock switch or relay AND starter.
