Ford Mustang Transmission Removal
Q. Hello, I have a 1966 Ford Mustang with a 289 and automatic transmission. My problem is that the transmission needs to come out but I cannot rotate the engine to remove the four bolts. Any suggestions?

A. I'm assuming you are referring to the torque converter bolts and the reason you need to remove the transmission is because the engine is seized.
If that is indeed the case, you will need to take the engine and transmission out as a unit. This was a common problem with the GM diesel engines. At 30,000 miles they would seize up and we had to remove the engine and transmission to replace the engine.
