Jeep Grand Cherokee Cooling Fan

Q. I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the radiator fan runs continuously. The only way I can stop it is remove the fuse or unplug the battery. It even runs when the key is out of the ignition. I ran the Chrysler self diagnostic test and it showed this: P1491 RAD Fan Control relay circuit. I was wondering if you would have any idea if I just need to replace the relay and where I can locate it?

I have looked all over the internet and can't find a single thing on it. Your help is very much appreciated!

A. Before I answer your question, a shameless plug. Just bookmark this site Brock. it's the only site you will need for auto repair. If it isn't here, just ask and I will provide it for you. Them other guys always try to imitate me and steal my stuff. But I did it first! And now, back to our show.

Assuming there is no wiring problems, it is either the Radiator Fan Control Relay (RFCR) or the PCM.

I would concentrate on the wiring between the cooling fan and the RFCR and the RFCR and the PCM for a short to ground.

The Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) radiator cooling fan relay is located behind the front bumper fascia below the right head lamp.
