Brake Click

Q. I have a 1997 Toyota 4 Runner SR5 with ABS. When I apply the brakes, I hear a single click. I've noticed that it seems to do it only after it warms up for a few minutes.... meaning I have applied the brakes 2 or 3 times before I hear the "click".

It doesn't seem to matter what speed I'm going when I apply the brakes and it appears to be coming from the front. Any help with diagnosing this "click" would be much appreciated. No sense fixing the symptoms without curing the problem.

A. I think you'll find the problem is a missing or broken anti-rattle clip. What is causing the noise is the brake pad moving inside the bridge. The front disc brake pads have small clips that eliminate this click. After time they just rust away or are not transferred to the new brake pads. Nothing major but I would get them replaced as soos as you can.
