Where Are They??

Q. Hello, Can you please tell me where the Air Filter and PCV Valve are located on my 1993 Buick Park Avenue? Also, I have a 1985 Mercury Topaz since new with very low mileage. Does this auto have a Breather Filter? If it does where is it located?

Thanks,
Gabe

A. The air filter in the Buick is located in the left front of the engine compartment, right behind the headlight.

The PCV is inside the intake manifold, near the back.

To replace it:

  1. Remove PCV valve cover plate fastening bolts.
  2. Remove cover plate and gasket.
  3. Remove spring, PCV valve, and O-ring.
  4. Clean old gasket material from surfaces and install new valve in reverse order.

As for the Mercury, the air for the PCV system is picked up after the air filter so a breather filter is not needed.
