RAM D50 Engine

Q. Hi, I am hoping you can help me out I am getting very confused by differing opinions. I have a 2.0 Dodge Ram 50 P/U a 1988, manual transmission 2WD. I have been searching for another motor for it and I have been asked if I have a 12½ or a 13½ bolt pattern.

Mine is a 12½. But then another person tells me that it only applies to the 2600 motor. Which is the case? I appreciate your help with this matter, bad enough being female without knowing which person to believe and feeling the fool if I have been given the wrong information.

Thank you,
Charlene

A. I hate to admit this Charlene since you are depending on me to set you straight, but I don't understand what they mean by "bolt pattern."

All the reference material I have makes no mention of a bolt pattern when replacing engines. Then I called three of my used parts suppliers and asked them and they all told the only thing they need to know is if it is manual or automatic. When I asked them specifically about a bolt pattern they all said there is no reference to a bolt pattern at all.

So all I can say is that all 2.0 liter engines with a manual transmission engines from 1983 to 1989 will fit in your truck.
