Plymouth Breeze Dash Lights Out
Q. Vincent, Hello. I am glad to see you have this site up. I have a question. I have a:
- 2000 Plymouth Breeze
- 1.8 Liter 4 cylinder 16 valve
- 50,000 miles
- Automatic Transmission
- P/S, A/C, Cruise Control
My question concerns the dash lighting. I recently installed a Pioneer DEH235 stereo replacing the stock stereo. I was unable to use the light dimmer control from the car and cut it and left it cut and not connected to anything.
My stereo works great. My dash lights do not. They do not turn on when switching my light switch. I've checked my fuses and all are good. Do I need to use the light wire that was connected to my stereo or do something with it in order to get my dash lights working again? My dash lights are the only things not working to my knowledge. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
ChrisA. I don't know how it was wired or what wires you may have cut and/or spliced so I'm afraid I can't offer you too much in the way of help.
The dash lights are controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM) and it may be looking for that light, but I don't think it would prevent the others from working.
Just for giggles, hook up a light, like a test light, and see if that gets the lights working. if it does, then you will know for sure the BCM does need that light.
