Loping Suburban

Q. Dear Vincent, We have a 1998 Chevy Suburban, 3/4 ton, 350 auto, with all the works. Our problem is when it runs at an idle it feels like it is loping. That is the only word I can find to describe what it is doing. We thought it might need a tune up. Did that. The tune up made it run better, but it is still loping at idle. Any suggestions?

Thank you,
Teresa

A. It could be running too rich or too lean. It could have low compression in one or more cylinders. Really need to scan it and see if any sensors are out of normal readings and maybe it will show up there. Also possibly EGR valve not closing all the way from carbon on the valve tip.
