Astro Blowing Hot Air

Q. Vincent, I have a 1995 Chevy Astro with rear heat. The problem is that when the vent is selected, heat continues to come out of the heater (behind drivers seat) VERY HOT Not fan, but heat. I need to have my A/C charged, but did not want to until I deal with this issue.

If it is in drive and becomes warm the engine stalls when I come to a stop. Could a tune-up and timing solve this, or do I have a more serious problem? I hope it isn't much more since I just purchased the truck.

Thanks for your time and response.
Ken

A. The only thing I can think of here is the hot water shut off valve in the rear heater hose is stuck open, allowing hot water to flow through the core all the time.
