Riviera Starts And Stalls

Q. 1991 Buick Riviera. The car will start as normal but shutters and dies almost immediately, unless I pump the gas pedal and get the RPM's up then it seems to smooth out. Upon letting up on the gas it shutters and dies. I have checked the fuel pressure and it reads 42 psi. I replaced the fuel pump about a year ago.

The fuel pressure regulator seems to hold a vacuum alright.

Confused

A. It may have a large vacuum leak somewhere that the ECM and sensors can't overcome. Possibly dirty throttle body passages? You'll need a scan tool to see what's going on here.
