Honda Accord Key Release

Q. I have Honda Accord EX 230,000 kilometers. My problem is when ever I park and turn the engine off I have to wait couple minutes to remove the key. In order to remove the key from the Honda car I have to push the key and turn counter clockwise but it does not let me do it couple minutes, and it does. I think it is usually happens at cold days. Any help please?

Honda Accord Key Release

A. That has an Automatic Transmission Key Interlock. When you push the key in, voltage is provided to the key interlock solenoid, and the interlock control unit. You can then turn the key OFF, and remove it. I would guess this solenoid is probably gummed with dirt and spilled soda. If you remove the center console you will see it. You can try cleaning it out, otherwise it will need to be replaced.
