Questions and Answers

Isuzu Rotors

Q. I need to replace the front brake rotors on my 1984 Isuzu Impulse. Are there any bearings on the rotors themselves that I will need to put on the new rotors, and are there any other bearings I will need to replace while doing this? Also, how tight should the hub nuts be when I put them back on?

Thanks,
David

A. If the front wheel bearings are in good shape, then all you need to do is repack them and you can reuse them. If you have any doubt whether they are good or not, replace them.

The wheel lugs should be tightened to 87 foot pounds. The wheel bearing retainer nut gets tightened hand tightened. Then spin the hub forward and backward to seat the bearings and re-hand tighten them. After they have been hand tightened, turn the nut ¼ turn and install the cap and a new cotter pin.
