Cadillac Coupe DeVille Rear Main Seal

Q. Hey Vince, I have a old 1966 Cadillac Coupe DeVille, with 105,000 miles on it. It has a rear main seal leak. I have the shop manual, and it goes through this whole process of removing the oil pan and transmission lower cover and exhaust manifold. This just seems like a lot of work. Any help you can give will be much appreciated.

A. Yes it is a lot of work. There is a special tool to take the old one out and put the new one in. I would not even attempt it without it. You can make one easy enough.

But the best part is there is no guarantee the new seal will stop the leak.
