Broken Windstar A/C

Q. I have a 1998 Ford Windstar, 3.8 liter V-6. I am having two problems: one is with the rear A/C and the other with the idle speed when I'm not using the A/C.

1. The A/C works fine in the front panel, but as soon I turn on the rear panel, I just get warm air in the lower rear panels that are in the driver side, cool air in the front panel, and no air in the roof vents.

2. When I use the A/C and I stop with the gear in drive, the idle is perfect and it is at around 900 rpm. However, when the A/C is not on and I stop with the gear in drive, the rpm goes around 700 and I start to get a missing idle speed, like the engine wants to stop but doesn't stop it does this every 4 or 5 seconds.

What can be the problem and what I should look for to solve it?

Thank you very much in advance for you answer.
Julio

A. It would seem that there is a problem either with the vacuum supply to the auxiliary air conditioning and heating system or a problem with the blend door. That is going to take a bit of work to check. I think I would recommend the dealer for this one.

As for the idle speed, I would suggest giving the IACV a good cleaning. I suspect it is just getting gummed up.
