No Signals, Now No Nothing

Q. I have a 1992 Chevy Cavalier 4 cylinder, standard, power locks, A/C, power steering, fuel injection, 135,000 miles. The blinkers don't blink, they just stay on. I checked all the bulbs and they work.

Checked all the fuses, all look good. Changed the relay switch for the blinkers and that didn't help. The hazards do blink. After messing around with the blinkers, the horn, dome light and power locks stopped working. Any ideas as to why my blinkers don't blink and everything else stopped working?

A. By the relay switch, I'm assuming you mean the flasher unit. There are two, one for the four ways and one for the turn signals. If that is the case, you probably have an open or short between the 15 amp TURN B/U fuse and the turn signal flasher or between the turn signal flasher and the turn signal switch. It is also possible the turn signal switch itself is bad. You need to grab a wiring diagram and check for power along the circuit to see where the problem is.

I think the reason the horn, dome lamp and door locks stopped working is because you blew the 15 amp CTSY fuse. All three of those circuits are powered from that fuse.
