Pontiac Grand Prix Blower Resistor

Q. Hi Vince, I hope you can give me some advise. I have a 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix, 165,000 miles, and have a blower motor problem. Sometimes it doesn't work at all, and when it does it's about half the speed it should be. It's intermittent, sometimes going on/off/on, etc. I've done research and determined that the problem is probably in the blower motor resistor. Would you agree?

Three questions: What are the symptoms of a bad/intermittent resistor? What about the "blower motor relay"? Where is the resistor located? Please advise, this is driving me nuts!!

Thanks so much,
Ken

A. Resistor is the most likely cause here. It should be located near the blower motor because blower keeps it cool.
