Grand Am Charging Problem

Q. My Grand Am charging system light comes on all the time and stays on even when the car is running. Had the alternator changed and checked, and replaced the battery. Thought it was the alternator because it quit on me while I was driving it. Jumped the battery and started right up.

Voltmeter says that the battery is charging and is at the right voltage. Any ideas?

1996 Pontiac Grand AM SE
2.4 liter Twin Cam Engine
Automatic Transmission

Fuel Injected
ABS brakes
P/S A/C no cruise control

Thanks...

A. A bad diode inside the alternator could still let it charge but turn the light on. I would have the system checked again.
