Chevy Tracker Ignition Key Sticks
Q. Hello! I recently bought a used:
- 2000 Chevy Tracker
- 2.0-liter DOHC 16v inline-4
- Automatic transmission
- 154,000 miles
- ABS brakes
- P/S, A/C, Cruise control
When I put my key in the ignition to start my car, it starts and the key moves forward with no problem. When turning off the ignition, however, the key gets stuck on the way back and I have to force it until it goes and the car shuts off.
I'm sure this is doing damage and the dealer told me to have a new key made to see if it would help. It didn't. I wonder if there is some kind of lubricant I can use or if I need to look into having the ignition key thingy replaced.
Thank you for any assistance you can give!
Sincerely,
GinaA.
Go back to that Chevy dealer and have them do a bulletin search for this problem. There is a TSB out for replacing small parts in the ignition lock cylinder to repair this condition.
