Tapping Chevy Monte Carlo

Q. I have a 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo LS with the stock 5.0 liter 305, with about 130,000 miles. The engine makes a kind of clicking noise when the engine is warm, and it only makes this noise under mid to heavy acceleration. Could this be from the engine not getting proper lubrication?? The oil level is fine and oil condition is good.

A. Can you isolate the noise? Could be a small valve tap, ping, valve guide noise, piston slap, lots of possibilities. See if you can hear it with a piece of garden hose as a stethoscope. The fuel pumps used to make some tapping noise too.
