Questions and Answers
Toyota CV Joints
Q. Dear Auto repair: My name is Quinton and I am a first year automotive student in St. John's Newfoundland, Canada. I am doing an assignment on a 1997 Toyota Corolla with a 1.6 lite 4 cylinder engine and automatic transaxle.
My question is in regards to the CV joints. Are they the Tripod type, or the Rzeppa type? We were supposed to remove the shaft from the car, but we couldn't get it out to take it apart and look at it. We knew how to take it out, but it just wouldn't come out. Any info on the type of joint would be helpful.
Thank you.
A. The 1997 Toyota Corolla uses both styles of CV joint. Here is some info on CV Joints.
