Supercharged Taurus???

Q. I own a 1993 Ford Taurus GL with the 3.8 liter engine and the auto transmission. I was looking for more power from my car, and looked at the Taurus SHO for help. I know that the early SHOs had 3.0 or 3.2 liter Yamaha supercharged engines, but I'm assuming the swap from the Ford powered to the Yamaha powered engine would be difficult.

Are the 1996+ SHOs with the V-8's Ford or Yamaha powered? Do they come with blowers like the earlier versions? I like the sound of a front wheel drive 8 cyl. engine. Would the swap be (relatively) difficult from my 1993 GL to a 1996 SHO? Are there blowers available for the Ford engines, or are they fragile to the extra power? Any other suggestions or recommendations apart from my ideas?

Thanks,
Cris

A. I don't know where you heard there was a supercharged Taurus, but wherever you heard it from, it's wrong. There is no such thing as a supercharged Taurus. The only Ford model that was supercharged was the 1989 to 1995 3.8 liter Ford Thunderbird. Before 1989 they had a 2.3 liter turbocharged engine.

Will a 1993 supercharged 3.8 liter from the Thunderbird fit in a Taurus? No, the Thunderbird is rear wheel drive and the Taurus is front wheel drive.
