Chevy Blazer Electrical Problems
Q. I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer 4WD 4.6liter, automatic transmission and 64,500 miles. My problem is that my truck won't start. I replaced the battery, and that wasn't the problem. It would turn over, but it turned hard and I wasn't getting much power to the vehicle. When I turned on the rear defrost it would drain the thing right down while running.
So then I replaced the alternator, still the same problem. Now when I start the engine it revs up high and then comes back down to normal idle. When I come to a stop light the engine loses power and when I accelerate it goes back up to normal again.
Could there be a short in the starter? When I turn my engine off it will not turn over again until I leave it set for about five minutes and the battery is making some sounds that are rather scary, likes it's overheating or something. Please help before I start putting more money into this thing.
Thanks...
A.
First thing to do is to pull off the positive battery cable and make sure it is CLEAN! These have been known to leak at the positive battery post and make the cable corrode very bad. This would make for a bad connection and cause the problems you describe.
