Acura Legend A Thumper
Q. Hello Vincent Ciulla, you helped me a while back on a problem with a Toyota. Now I'm coming to you again. I bought a 1992 Acura Legend LS V-6 Engine, automatic transmission, ABS, fuel injection, A/C with 105,000 miles. Now my problem; when I'm driving local around town this car drives good, but when I'm on the Highway driving from 55 mph to 80 mph my car starts to make a very loud thumping sound. Like I might have a flat tire or something.
I can fill the vibrating in the gas pedal. Makes this car drives really bad. I have had my tires rotated and balanced and this didn't help it. I feel something is really wrong and I don't know where to start. If Its my transmission can a 1988 V-6 Toyota Camry automatic transmission fit into this 1992 Acura Legend V-6 Car.
Thank You!!!!
MichaelA. This will not be an easy one to locate Michael. My first thought is a bad axle or wheel bearing. And it is still possible it's a bad tire. It may balance up good, but if it has a slipped belt, it could make the sound you describe.
I think the best thing to do is have a mechanic drive it with you and get his opinion.
