Mitsubishi Hard Cold Start
Q. I have a 1993 Mitsubishi. My car act up lately. In the morning it will take 7 to 15 minutes to start up my car in 30's degree temperature. and 20's and below it take forever. Once it started and warm up it no problem restart it, but in couple hours, it will take several crank before it will start.
Code: 13, 21, and 25. I have changed coolant temperature sensor, air filter, air temperature sensor, throttle sensor it doesn't help a bit and the computer still show those code??? And the mechanic just eat up my money. Please help me.
A. All three of these codes point to a bad Air Flow Meter (AFM).
- 12 - Volume Air Flow Sensor
- 13 - Intake Air Temperature Sensor
- 25 - Barometric Pressure Sensor
I would check the connector for the AFM and make sure it is not damaged and the connections are clean and tight. I would also check the harness for broken wires. Check for 4.8 to 5.2 volts at pin one of the AFM connector. If you do not have it, the PCM or the wiring between the PCM and the AFM is open. If everything in the connectors and wiring is okay, you'll have to replace the whole AFM.
