Chevy 350 Running Bad

Q. Hi. I have a 1971 Chevy 350 engine that I cannot get to run right. It sounds like it is out of time. I have checked the timing over 50 times and have replaced the coil, points, distributor, carburetor, plugs, wiring. I had this engine rebuilt and have not been able to get it running right since.

I am using the 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 firing order. Is this correct for all 350's? It sounds like I have some plug wires mixed up. Can you suggest anything?

Thanks

A. Here is the firing order for that engine, all 350's were the same.

If, after you double check the firing order and it's correct, then the distributor may have been installed improperly. You would need to set the base timing and set the distributor to match.
