Mustang Oil Pressure Problem

Q. I have a 1995 Ford Mustang that has been having a weird problem ever since I moved. I towed with a U-Haul behind it. The problem now is that my oil pressure reading on my gauge is reading high, on the high end of normal. I have replaced the oil sensor, I changed the oil and filter, and the other gauges are working fine.

I did take the post off to clear all the readings. I don't know why it continues to stay up, I'm worried about the possible complications from this being a true situation, and what to do about it. Any response would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Cary

A. The first thing I would do is to put a mechanical oil pressure tester on the engine and find out what the true pressure reading is. If oil pressure is indeed high, then you have a problem with the oil pressure relief valve in the oil pump.

If the oil pressure is normal, then since you have already replaced the sending unit, I would say the problem is in the dash gauge.
