Setting Chevy Blazer Timing

Q. Hello, I'm having a timing problem with my 1993 Chevy S-10 Blazer. It has a 4.3 Vortex 6 cylinder. I put the timing gun of the #1 cylinder and I can’t get it to stay on the mark, it bounces a lot. I put the timing gun on all the other spark plug wires and they stay consistent. In the last year or so, I have changed the distributor, rotor, spark plugs and wires, timing chain, and the IAC sensor. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you,
Bret

Setting Chevy Blazer Timing

A. Are you following the label under the hood? Put in base timing mode by unplugging a wire connector, it usually tells you where it is. This will turn on the check engine light to tell you you're in base timing mode and takes the ECM out of the loop. Should be a single wire tan in color with a black stripe and black connector. As far as it jumping all around, I think this will help you.
