Transmission Cooler

Q. Hello, l have a 2000 Chevy Blazer. While driving to Florida From Ontario, Canada and going through the mountains my transmission started acting up. We drove 12 hours a day. When the transmission got hot and l started off from a stop it would give a big jerk.

After the transmission cooled off there was no problem. l was not towing anything. What l want to know is would a transmission cooler benefit me.

A. Yes, a transmission cooler would absolutely be a benefit to you. You can have one installed by the dealer, a transmission shop or do it yourself. I would also recommend that if this is a regular trip for you, to stick to a 15,000 mile transmission service schedule to keep the transmission in the best possible condition.
