Ford Explorer Fluctuating Temp Gauge

Q. 1992 Ford Explorer bought two years ago, 84,000 miles. Temperature gauge moving from cold to half way and back stays cold for 5 to 10 minutes then repeats cycle again. Drained fluid and changed thermostat, same problem. Never gets too hot, has good heat. Truck now has 96,000 miles. Going nuts.

Thank you,
Edward

Ford Explorer Fluctuating Temp Gauge

A. There was a TSB on this problem. Replace the Temperature Sender with Ford part number F1SZ-10884-A and that should fix it. It is located at the front left hand corner of the engine.
