Dodge Neon Door Seal

Q. Hi Vince, I have a little question for you. How do I fix the wind noise on the passenger side of my Dodge Neon. I watched the service man do it but it has been so long ago have forgotten. I know its something on the edge of the door. Can you help me? It always sounds like the window is down.

Many thanks,
Sarah

A. Wind noise can be caused by a number of things, but most often it is a door seal. The door seals are tucked into a channel and aren't held in with anything so they are free to expand and contract. If there is a chunk missing or it is torn, it has to be replaced. If it has popped out of it's channel, it can be reinserted.

It's kind of hard for me to tell you how to do it. It's one of those things I would, like, have to show you. If you look at it, you should be able to see the channel it fits into and the part of the seal that goes into it. I usually start near where it's inserted in the channel and work my way around. Sometimes spraying some silicone makes fitting it in easier. I use a piece of antenna mast with a rounded end to work the seal into place. I tuck one side of the seal into the channel and use the tool to tuck the other side in. It's not difficult to do, just hard to explain.

I hope I explained it well enough for you to do it yourself. Let me know how you did.
