Ram Fog Lights

Q. I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 with factory fog lights. I had to replace the one on the passenger side due to a gravel truck. After I replaced it, they worked fine for about a month. Now, when I pull the light switch, the indicator doesn't even light up. It's as if the switch isn't working now.

In hopes of a simple fix, I've replaced the relay and checked the fuse, but nothing helped. I was hoping you may have some other idea before I take it into the Dodge dealership for repair.

Thanks for your help.
Kelley

A. I'm assuming that you replaced the factory lamp with a factory lamp.

There is not too much that can go wrong with that circuit. At this point there are two possibilities. First is a bad fog lamp switch and second, a broken power or ground wire. There is power to the indicator light and both lamps at all times. The head lamp switch provides the ground for the circuit when the head lights are on. If you are getting power to the pink/red wire at the head light switch, then the switch is bad.

I think this likely because the indicator lamp draws power from fuse E in the fuse box and the fog lamps draw power from fuse G.
