Screwed up? Q. Dear Mr. Ciulla: I proudly own a 2001 VW Passat that has exceeded my expectations for a great road car with room for a family.

Something is puzzling me. With the hood up there are 2 open holes on each side of the front corresponding to adjustment screws for the headlights. They specifically direct you to the owners manual for directions on which is the vertical and which is the horizontal adjustments but after reading my manual cover-to-cover twice I am unable to find any information about the headlight adjustment screws. Can you shed any light on this problem?

A. Looking at the headlight straight on, the left adjusting (outside) screw is for left and right adjustment and the right adjusting (inside) screw is for up and down.

Both left headlight adjustment screws are located in mirror image.
