Adding A Turbo
Q. This is the info about my car, but the reason why I wanted to e-mail you, is because I was wondering all the stuff I would have to get to put a turbo charger on my car, like the stuff to I would need to take off of a MX-6 GT to put it on my car.

A. Well, the first thing to consider is the pistons themselves. They are different in a turbo and non-turbo engine. The piston top for a turbo engine are dished out where the non-turbo are flat. Also the ECUs are different as well. The intake and exhaust manifolds are different as is the air cleaner housing.
It could be done, but it will be a lot of work and you will run into situations as you go along that you will have to resolve as they pop up. Another thing to consider is if you put a turbo on the engine you have, there is the chance the engine, with so many miles, may not be able to stand the additional stress the turbo places upon it. You could very well destroy the engine.
If the engine in the GT is good, I think the best thing to do is to take the whole engine and ECU out of the GT and into the LX. Of course you'll need the main engine harness as well but that would be easy to swap when the engine is out of the GT and before you put it in the LX.
