BMW 325is Power Windows

Q. Hello. I have a question about the power windows on my car. My problem is this. From the time that I purchased the car (used) I have had problems with the power window on the driver's side only, but now the same problems is beginning to appear from time to time with the driver's side window.

BMW 325is Power Windows

The symptom is this: When the window is down, I push the power window button for the window to go up and the window starts going up, then stops and goes back down about an inch or so. I can then release the button and push it again, and once again the window will raise an inch or two, then stop and go back down an inch or so.

This seems to occur primarily if I hold the window button down. If I push the window button up repeatedly so the window only raises an inch or so each time, then I can get it up, but if I hold the button down, it keeps going up then coming back down an inch or so.

I assume someone else has run into this problem before and I was wondering if you have any idea what this could be (perhaps the window motor?) and how I should go about fixing it.

Jacob

A. I don't see any bulletins from BMW on this problem which just means it is not a wide spread problem. But it does sound like a problem with the window regulator. You'll have to pull the door panel off and visually inspect it for wear or loose fasteners.
